Mr Crumb is a food manufacturer based in Finea Co Westmeath. We supply a range of food products to Retail and Food Service markets in Ireland and the UK. An opportunity has arisen in the NPD Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested to building a career in the food industry.

Job description

The focus of the role will be to develop products from initiation to first production including bench work, taste panelling, carrying out trials, finished product specifications and team training for first production. In this role you will join an environment where there is an ability to upskill, gain valuable experience and grow your career path.

Duties to include:

• Assist with launch of new products, ensuring all new products comply with food safety and quality standards.
• Working as part of the NPD Team to facilitate handover of new product launches to the quality and production teams.
• Assist with and in time when fully trained, lead product and packaging trials.
• Research and identify cost effective and innovative ingredient and packaging sources and coordinate with Support Supply.
• Responsible for ensuring all new product launch files are up to date.
• Support the quality team with updating HACCP/Process flows as required.
• Co-ordination of in-house benchmarking and tasting exercises.
• Document procedures to assist with hand over of new products going into live production.

Key skills & experience:

• Third level degree in Food Science or related discipline.
• 2+ years’ experience in food manufacturing or in new product development environment is a distinct advantage.
• Experience of report writing and with strong communication skills.
• Candidate should be able to work on own initiative and be a keen learner.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
